Academic Excellence, Built to Last

Reach the Steep Part of the Curve.

Long-term academic partnership for families who value excellence. We build strong foundations, accelerate performance, and help students rise to the next curve with lasting confidence.

Our Approach

Our Three-Step Framework

Progress rarely looks dramatic at first. Then something shifts—the right strategy, the right instruction, the right structure—and suddenly progress accelerates. That is the S curve. We help students reach the steep part of the curve, and when they plateau, we help them rise to the next one with stronger habits, sharper thinking, and higher standards.

Rigor, Insight, and Steady Guidance

Led by co-founders Sammi and Serena — a sister duo with backgrounds in chemistry, neuroscience, mathematics, and cognitive science-informed learning strategy.

Education

B.S. & M.S. Chemistry (Boston College) | Minor in Finance

Sammi completed both her B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry at Boston College, along with a minor in Finance that sharpened her analytical approach to problem-solving. During her time at BC, she served as a teaching assistant in General Chemistry and Physical Computing and received the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award. Alongside teaching, she conducted research in electrocatalysis, which shaped the research mindset she brings to tutoring: observe carefully, identify the true bottleneck, test strategies, and build a method that holds up under pressure. That combination of depth and practicality defines Sammi’s work at S-Curve Academics. She is known for translating advanced STEM concepts into clear steps, strengthening foundations quickly, and creating systems that help students execute consistently. Her sessions go beyond “getting it done.” Students learn how to approach unfamiliar problems, study with intention, and manage academic demands with less stress. Sammi also has experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including ADHD and dyslexia, and she adapts her instruction to help each student build strategies that actually work for how they learn. Families often notice stronger results, more efficient routines at home, and a student who feels more capable in the classroom.Since 2019, Sammi has supported more than 200 students across STEM instruction and academic coaching, including test prep, applications, and executive function. She builds mastery, confidence, and durable routines so students meet each new curve of challenge at their full potential.

Education

B.S. Neuroscience (Johns Hopkins University) | Minor in Applied Math & Statistics | M1 (Drexel College of Medicine)

Serena earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University, with a minor in Applied Mathematics & Statistics, and she is currently an M1 at Drexel College of Medicine. That mix of brain science, quantitative thinking, and clinical training shows up clearly in how she tutors. She pays close attention to how a student is reasoning, pinpoints where the process breaks down, and then builds a simple, repeatable path forward. At S-Curve Academics, Serena focuses on helping students perform when it counts. She tutors standardized test prep and supports core math through calculus, with an emphasis on pacing, strategy, and execution. Her sessions are organized and practical. Students learn how to set up problems quickly, avoid common traps, and make confident decisions under time pressure. Just as importantly, Serena helps students build habits that make the work feel lighter, with more structure, fewer spirals, and clearer next steps between sessions.Serena has been tutoring since 2017, working with students of different ages, learning styles, and academic goals. Her commitment to accessible support extends beyond the classroom. She has prepared Baltimore City students for GED exams through YO! Baltimore Tutoring Project and served as a student coach with Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN), supporting children with neurological disabilities. Families appreciate her calm, steady presence and the way she turns “I don’t get it” into a clear next step, helping students build skills, confidence, and lasting momentum to the next curve of challenge.
